Shipping and Returns
SHIPPING A FIREARM – FFL’S AND TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP
We will ONLY transfer ownership of a firearm to individuals or agencies in possession of a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL). This means we cannot ship directly to you unless you are an FFL holder.
If you do not hold a valid FFL, we will transfer your purchased firearm to your choice of a licensed gun dealer in your state.
It is your responsibility:
- to ensure that a firearm is legal to own in your state.
- to complete all required paperwork when you pick up your purchase from your local dealer
Be aware that it is customary for your local dealer to charge a transfer fee at the time you pick up your purchase. This transfer fee is strictly between you and your local dealer and is usually paid to them when you pick up your purchase. Please check with your local dealer concerning their policies.
Cobalt-preferred dealers will take our shipments without prior contact. Click here to view a list of Cobalt-preferred dealers. If you would like to have your purchase sent to a non-preferred dealer, you are responsible for the following:
- contacting the dealer to ensure that they are willing to receive the shipment
- contacting the dealer to request that they email a copy of their FFL to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you choose to use a non-preferred dealer, we will be unable to process your order until we have received a copy of their FFL. If you are using a Cobalt-preferred dealer, we already have their FFL on file and no additional action is required.
Orders for firearms may be cancelled without penalty if the cancellation request is received BEFORE the firearm has shipped. Cancellations must be verified by a customer service representative. If the cancellation request is received AFTER the firearm has shipped, you will be charged a 20% restocking fee and shipping costs if you wish to proceed with cancellation.
Accessories & Apparel
Orders for accessories and/or apparel may be cancelled without penalty if the cancellation request is received BEFORE the accessories have shipped. Cancellations must be verified by a customer service representative. If the cancellation request is received AFTER the accessories have shipped, you will be responsible for paying the return shipping costs if you wish to proceed with cancellation.
FIREARMS CANNOT BE RETURNED AFTER THE TRANSFER PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED. It is your responsibility to thoroughly inspect the firearm BEFORE completing the transfer. If there is a problem with your firearm, contact us BEFORE completing the transfer. We will work with the receiving dealer to ship the firearm back to us at no cost to you. After we have received the defective firearm, you will have the option of receiving a replacement or receiving a refund for the defective firearm. We understand that some manufacturer defects may not be identifiable upon initial inspection. However, by purchasing a firearm from us, you agree that upon discovering a defect in your transferred firearm that you will work with the manufacturer for replacement or repair (in accordance with their warranty policy). Any failed background check will result in a 20% restocking fee plus all applicable shipping fees.

Defective Accessories & Apparel
Defective items that are not firearms or ammunition may be returned within 30 days of receipt at no cost to you. Please email email@example.com to obtain a return authorization (RA) number and begin the return process. A return shipping label will be provided to you at no cost. You will have the option of receiving a replacement item or receiving a refund for the defective item.
Non-defective Accessories & Apparel
Non-defective items that are not firearms or ammunition may be returned within 30 days of receipt, however you will be responsible for all return shipping costs. Items must be unused and in 100% original condition with all labels, papers and packaging materials intact. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain a return authorization (RA) number and begin the return process.
